We recognise our responsibilities and statutory duty of care to comply with the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations, Child Safe Standards, relevant child protection legislation and the National Quality Framework.

 

Central to our commitment is the Paramountcy Principle, which states that the safety, wellbeing and best interests of the child must always come first in every decision, action, interaction and practice. When making decisions, we ask ourselves: "What is in the child's best interests?" before considering adult preferences, routines, organisational needs or other competing priorities.

 

We are committed to implementing and abiding by our Providing a Child Safe Environment Policy, which reflects our zero tolerance for child abuse, neglect, discrimination, bullying, harm and exploitation. We actively promote a culture where child safety is everyone's responsibility.

 

We are dedicated to protecting children from physical, sexual, emotional and psychological abuse and neglect. We maintain comprehensive child protection practices and fulfil our mandatory reporting responsibilities to safeguard children. When required, information is shared appropriately and lawfully with relevant authorities and organisations to protect children and promote their wellbeing.

 

We work to ensure clear awareness and understanding of appropriate and inappropriate behaviour between adults and children. Professional boundaries are maintained at all times by educators, volunteers, students, contractors and visitors to protect children's safety and wellbeing.

 

We believe every child has the right to be heard, respected and protected. We actively encourage children to express their views, feelings and concerns and support them to develop the confidence and skills to seek help when needed. Children's voices inform our decisions, practices and learning environments.

 

We are committed to promoting cultural safety for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, children from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, and children with disability. We celebrate diversity, foster inclusion and do not tolerate discrimination in any form.

 

We are committed to maintaining safe environments where children experience a strong sense of belonging, emotional security and positive relationships. Through respectful interactions and responsive practices, we support children to feel confident, connected and safe.

 

We invest in ongoing professional learning to ensure all educators and staff understand their responsibilities in identifying, preventing and responding to concerns about child safety and wellbeing. We recognise that creating a child-safe culture requires continuous reflection, learning and improvement.

 

Guided by the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, the Early Childhood Australia Code of Ethics and the Paramountcy Principle, we place children at the centre of everything we do.
